"Just4Keepers has been running successfully now for the past seven years; and over this time period we at J4K have produced more schoolboy goalkeepers than any of our top professional clubs."

Ray Newland - J4K Founder

Ian Pledger

Flying the Flag for Peterborough & Cambridgeshire Keepers

Ian started playing in goal at an early age and represented his County at EVERY age group from the age of 8 until the age of 16 years old.

Ian impressed that much that Luton Town FC (Then in the old 1st Division) offered him a 3 year contract. Luton Town were one of the first clubs to have Astro Turf down instead of a grass pitch on their home ground. However this was not the quality turf we see today, Ian states it was like concrete painted green.

Three years playing on this surface took its toll on Ian with a couple of nasty injuries with one a severely badly broken leg finishing his Professional career before it really began.

However Ian bounced back, and 20 years on Ian is still playing aged 38 at the time of writing.

Ian has played as Number 1 keeper for some of the biggest semi professional clubs in his area that include, Stamford town, Spalding united, Wisbech town and Corby town.

Two years ago he retired to become assistant manager at Stamford in the Unibond league, and then followed the manager the following season to become assistant manager at Quorn town also in the unibond league.

Earlier this year Ian was tempted away from management to play again at Soham town in the Zammaretto, so again put on his gloves and continues to enjoy playing with him getting 3 MOM awards in his first 3 games back!

Ian is well known in his area for coaching goalkeepers and he believes joining J4K is a positive step forward for him to help his students move onto higher levels.

not even the weather could spoil the enjoyment my son had last week, he made so many new friends and said the coaches were excellent but there jokes were not so good. i was also really impressed with the facilities when we came to pick John up. Id like to thank you and the other coaches again and look forward to hearing of future courses.

Ian,
thanks for a great week at Oundle, apart from the awful weather (we are not used to that in S.Africa) it was a brilliant course, hope to see you again next year.
