Flying the Flag for Staffordshire Keepers
Mark started playing in goal aged just eight, and developed into a capable keeper that he was picked up by the then Premiership club, Nottingham Forest aged just sixteen.
After serving a 2 year YTS at Forest, he impressed so much he was offered a 2 year professional contract were he play all reserve team games and was a ever present as a sub goalkeeper for all premiership matches.
To gain more first team opportunities, Mark signed for Port Vale FC where he spent about 10 years being their number one keeper.
Over his time at Port Vale, Marks honours include:
- Over 300 First team games
- Player of the year award. (3 times!!!)
- Won the LDV Cup at the Millennium Stadium
Over his time as a professional goalkeeper, Mark was lucky enough to be taught by some quality goalkeeper coaches that include, Mike Kelly, Andy Beesley and Mark Grew.
Mark is now heavily involved as the goalkeeper coach at Nottingham Forest, and believes his playing and coaching experiences, is going to help the Staffordshire goalkeepers of tomorrow!
With his immense professional playing experience, J4K also believes this too!
